For a period in the past 10 years, there was a time when anyone could secure a car loan even if they had a poor rating from credit bureaus. People had the ability to get loans even if they could not prove the loan could be repaid. There were even instances when people who filed bankruptcy could purchase a new car only a few months afterward. Such irresponsible conditions had to come to an end when buying a car.
Credit rules are tighter today and a car loan does not come so easily. Today the buyer must prove the capability of paying for a car before credit is extended but for those with bad credit, there is still hope. There are long time and short time strategies that can be taken to improve a credit score. The most desirable solution is for borrowers to raise their credit scores so their loans are approved.
A credit score can be raised in a number of different ways. The first step is to always make payments on time on any kind of payment. A notation on your credit file that you have always “paid as agreed” signals the lender that you make payments on time—a desirable trait. Step two is to obtain a small loan from a bank and be conscientious about making payments promptly. Anyone who does not have a bank needs to get one and build a personal financial relationship to facilitate getting a loan.
A loan or credit card secured by a savings account or deposit on the card is a good option for those with poor credit. With a secured loan money is deposited in a savings account held by the bank until the loan is paid. Banks require a minimum deposit for a secured account (usually $300). Similarly, a secured card credit limit is set by the amount deposited on it. Once a good payment record is established, the bank may give you an unsecured loan or credit card
Whatever path you to take to turn your credit position around, keep it up. In fact, do not start any of these plans until you know you can maintain the payment schedule. It is important that you earn a good credit rating otherwise you will not have the ability to do the things you want in your financial life.
